Cavapoo Puppies For Sale — What to Know Before You Buy

If you've been searching for Cavapoo puppies for sale, you already know how hard it is to find a breeder you can actually trust. There are a lot of options out there — and honestly, not all of them are good ones. I'm Daxon Weaver, and my family has been raising Cavapoos here at Weaver Family Farms in Missouri for years. We're not a big operation. We're a small, state-licensed family farm where every single puppy is cared for by us — not hired staff, not a factory setup. Just our family, doing what we love.

This guide is going to walk you through everything you need to know before bringing a Cavapoo puppy home — from what makes the breed so special, to what questions you should be asking any breeder, to what the adoption process actually looks like with us. By the end, you'll know exactly what to expect.

All About Cavapoos - Weaver Family Farms

What Is a Cavapoo, Exactly?

A Cavapoo is a cross between a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel and a Poodle. That combination is what makes them so popular — and for good reason. You get the Cavalier's warm, gentle, people-loving personality blended with the Poodle's intelligence and low-shedding coat. The result is a dog that's smart, affectionate, easy to train, and a whole lot of fun to be around.

We've raised a lot of Cavapoos over the years, and I can tell you firsthand — these dogs have a way of fitting into just about any home. Apartment in the city? They're fine. House with a big backyard in the Midwest? They love it. Family with young kids? Perfect. Empty nesters looking for a companion? Couldn't ask for a better dog. Read our full deep-dive in All About Cavapoos for even more on the breed.

Their size is another big draw. Our Cavapoos typically land between 14 and 20 pounds full grown — sturdy enough to keep up with an active family, but small enough to curl up on your lap at the end of the day.

Are Cavapoos Hypoallergenic?

This is one of the most common questions we get, and it's worth answering honestly. No dog is 100% hypoallergenic — that's just not how it works. But Cavapoos, thanks to their Poodle genetics, tend to shed very little and produce less dander than most breeds. For a lot of families who deal with mild to moderate allergies, that makes a huge difference.

We've had plenty of families adopt from us specifically because someone in the house has allergies, and they've had great experiences. We wrote a whole article on this topic — check it out below.

Cavapoo Temperament — What Living With One Is Really Like

I want to give you the real picture here, not just the highlight reel. Cavapoos are genuinely wonderful dogs, but they do have some traits you should know going in.

They love people — a lot. Cavapoos thrive on human connection. They want to be where you are. That's a beautiful thing, but it also means they don't do great when left alone for long stretches. If you're gone 10 hours a day, a Cavapoo might not be the best fit without some extra planning (a dog walker, a second pet, etc.).

They're smart and easy to train. The Poodle side of them makes training genuinely enjoyable. They pick up commands quickly, they want to please you, and they respond really well to positive reinforcement. We start socializing our puppies from day one, so by the time they come home with you, they're already used to people, sounds, and the rhythm of family life.

They're gentle and great with kids. The Cavalier in them gives Cavapoos a naturally calm, patient temperament. We've seen our puppies go to homes with toddlers, teenagers, and everything in between — they adapt beautifully.

They need moderate exercise. They're not couch potatoes, but they're not marathon runners either. A daily walk and some playtime keeps them happy and healthy. They love interactive toys and games that challenge their minds too.

5 Facts About Cavapoos You Should Know

Before we get into the breeder side of things, here are a few facts that surprise a lot of first-time Cavapoo owners. We covered these in detail in our 5 Facts About Cavapoos article — worth a read if you're still in research mode.

What to Look for in a Cavapoo Breeder

This is where I want to be really direct with you, because this matters more than almost anything else. The breeder you choose determines the health, temperament, and overall quality of your puppy. Here's what you should be looking for — and what should raise red flags.

Green Flags

  • The breeder is state-licensed and transparent about it
  • Puppies are raised in a clean, family environment — not in cages or crowded kennels
  • The breeder can tell you about the puppy's parents — their health, temperament, and background
  • Every puppy gets a vet wellness exam before going home
  • The breeder stays in touch after adoption and is available to answer questions
  • There are real reviews from real families you can read

Red Flags

  • No health guarantee of any kind
  • Won't let you ask questions or seems evasive
  • Puppies are always available with no waiting — that can signal a puppy mill operation
  • No information about the parents
  • Prices that seem too good to be true (they usually are)

At Weaver Family Farms, we're an open book. Our farm is state-licensed, our adult dogs are health-checked by our vet, and every puppy gets a wellness exam before leaving us. We're not a large operation — our family personally cares for every dog and puppy, every single day. You can read what other families have said about their experience on our Reviews page. How We Raise Our Cavapoo Puppies

I want to walk you through what life actually looks like for our puppies from birth to the day they go home with you, because I think it matters.

From Birth

We carefully plan every litter. We select our parent dogs based on health, temperament, and genetic background — not just looks. When a litter is on the way, we monitor mom closely and make sure she's comfortable, well-fed, and stress-free throughout her pregnancy.

The First Weeks

Our puppies are born and raised in our kennel building, which is fully heated and air-conditioned. Our dogs have 24/7 access to food, water, and the ability to go in and out of the building whenever they want — day or night. From day one, our puppies are handled by our family. They hear the sounds of a real home, interact with people of all ages, and start learning what it means to be a family dog.

Before They Go Home

Before any puppy leaves our farm, they get a full wellness exam from our veterinarian, their initial vaccinations, and a starter kit to help them settle in. We also make sure you — the new owner — feel fully prepared. We're always available to answer questions before, during, and after the adoption.

How Much Do Cavapoo Puppies Cost?

Cavapoo pricing varies depending on the breeder, the generation of the cross (F1, F1b, etc.), coat color, and other factors. What I'll tell you is this: a well-bred Cavapoo from a reputable, licensed breeder is an investment — and it's one that pays off. Puppies from responsible breeders are healthier, better socialized, and far less likely to come with the kind of health problems that can cost you thousands down the road.

We price our puppies fairly and transparently. If you have questions about current pricing, the best thing to do is reach out to us directly — we're always happy to talk.

Cavapoo Care Basics — What New Owners Need to Know

Once your puppy is home, here's what you'll want to stay on top of:

Grooming

Cavapoos need regular brushing — a few times a week at minimum — to keep their wavy or curly coats from matting. Plan on professional grooming every couple of months. It's not optional; it's just part of owning this breed. The good news is most Cavapoos actually enjoy the grooming process once they're used to it.

Feeding

Feed a high-quality small-breed puppy food and follow the guidelines on the bag, adjusting as your puppy grows. Fresh water should always be available. Watch the treats — Cavapoos will happily eat more than they should if you let them.

Training

Start early and keep it positive. Cavapoos are smart and eager to please, which makes training genuinely fun. Basic commands, crate training, and leash manners should all start in the first few weeks at home. Short, consistent sessions work best.

Vet Care

Set up a relationship with a local vet right away. Keep up with vaccinations, annual checkups, flea and tick prevention, and dental care. Cavapoos are generally a healthy breed, but staying proactive is always the right call.
